More Than Just a Name

Namespiration

Some of the resources I've used/encountered in our baby naming journey...

Websites:
A Name by Any Other... Rose meaningful names for stylish infants.
This is the blog of a friend of mine, Tara has a great knack for choosing the "right" name which is notably recognised amongst our group of friends. If you want someone to recommend a name for you, Tara's the lady to go to.

Babynames.com
This is one of the first name listing sites I ever looked at when I was looking for second names for our first son. I've not used any of the other resources on the site, but keep going back to their lists time after time even though they aren't that comprehensive. Babynames.com used to have a great feature where you could recommend a name to them for inclusion, sadly it's not there any more and they never added "Winsome" to the list.

Behind The Name
I've only recently discovered this site; I like it's simple layout, "fun stuff" and especially the names in theme sets.

The Baby Name Wizard
This site has some great fun tools for the popularity of names by both region (US) and time, a great dictionary of names (namepedia) and Laura also has some great insights into the use of names.

Books:
Baby Names for Australians, Anne Matthews (2007 Edition)
I found this book, although with less names than many at only 25,000 to have more variety of names than many of the "more comprehensive" books. Baby names for Australians contains "feature boxes" of themed names (fashion in names; dated and timeless, biblical names, First Fleet names, Australian sports people, Shakespearean names, to name a few) and a listing of names by ethnic origin at the end of the book.
